Welcome to the News
section of the ENVIS Centre
on NGOs, Parliament & Media.
As an ENVIS Centre of the Ministry of
Environment and Forests (MoEF), WWF-India compiles a variety
of environment-related news and featured items in the
print media. This information, which is available for
reference in the WWF-India ENVIS Centre, is extensively
used by media professionals and researchers for obtaining
background information on important current and emerging
environmental issues.
News, articles and media reports on various
environmental issues have been collected, compiled and
prepared as ‘Trends Report’ on the basis of
major subjects of concern. The analysis focuses on a gamut
of environmental issues as well as a plethora of relevant
news articles throwing light on questions raised by environmentalists.
The basic idea of this Report is to highlight the role
of print media in environmental protection.
Media plays the role of a socializing
agent in terms of environmental protection. It is a fact
that public actions and attitudes toward environmental
protection are largely shaped and influenced by the media.
The media serves as one of the key channels for generating
awareness about environmental conservation and related
issues.
The Centre has categorized the myriad
of environmental issues into 18 (eighteen) different subject
heads and the news reports have been categorized into
the various subject heads.
