ENVIS Centre Documentation
The WWF-India Maharaja Fatesinghrao Gaekwad Library and
the Documentation Centre form a specialised reference Library
on Environment. The facilities offered include a reference
library open to the general public, researchers, media persons
etc. on all working days, and provision of photocopying
facilities at a nominal charge as well as personal attention
to the visitors.
It has a limited exchange programme with other documentation
centres in India and overseas. The holdings of the library
are partially computerised offline/online also. Each record
in the database contains complete information about a book,
including accession number, class, title, author, an easy-to-use
interface permits information to be quickly retrieved. Efforts
are underway to make this database available for general
reference by incorporating electronic networking system
for the library.
The library has acquired several volumes on a diverse range
of subjects ranging from forests, wetlands, oceans &
marine systems, flora & fauna, pollution and toxics,
climate change, environmental education, environmental law
and cases, wildlife trade, protected areas, watershed management
and other subjects on environment.
The ENVIS Centre library has a computerized database (click)
on various subject areas searchable on the basis of various
subjects. The ENVIS Centre library services help users by
dissemination of information through the ENVIS website which
provides regularly updated information from newspapers,
journals and articles on environmental issues of concern.
The ENVIS Centre Documentation Unit has a vast collection
of books and periodicals on the environment and constant
efforts are made to acquire latest books and reports on
the various subjects.
